Privacy Policy

This is an English translation of the Japanese privacy policy for reference. If there is any discrepancy between this translation and the Japanese original, the Japanese version prevails.

miyax ("we", "us") sets out below how we handle information about users ("you") of the mobile game "Remnia - Labyrinth of Oblivion" (the "App").

1. Basic approach

The App is designed to be played without creating an account (no name, e-mail address or similar input is required). Your game progress — unlocked skills, permanent upgrades, the record log, codex data, your balance of memory shards and so on (the "Game Data") — is stored continuously on an external cloud service (Google Firebase), linked to an anonymous ID unique to your device. That anonymous ID is not linked to your name, e-mail address or any other information that identifies you, and we cannot identify you personally from it.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Game Data (stored in the cloud under an anonymous ID)

The first time you launch the App, an anonymous ID unique to your device is issued automatically, without any action on your part, through anonymous authentication (Firebase Authentication, Anonymous Auth). The following information is stored in Firebase Firestore under that ID:

This information contains nothing that identifies you personally, such as your name or e-mail address. Please note, however, that because it is linked continuously to the anonymous ID of your device, it remains stored in our cloud environment regardless of whether you use the transfer code feature described below. Uninstalling the App does not automatically delete the data held on Firebase.

2.2 If you use the device transfer feature

When you choose "Issue a transfer code" in the settings screen, the Game Data described in 2.1 is stored temporarily in Firestore under a code of the form transferCodes/{code}. Entering that code under "Restore from a transfer code" on another device copies the Game Data to the anonymous ID of the new device.

The code expires 24 hours after it is issued. Once it has expired, the code can no longer be used to access the data. The code and the data linked to it are deleted when the transfer completes, or when a new code is issued from the same device. If neither happens, the data may remain in our cloud environment after the code has expired, although the code can no longer be used to access it.

2.3 Information collected automatically (for advertising)

So that the App can be offered free of charge, we use a third-party advertising service (Google AdMob). That service may automatically collect information such as the following in order to deliver ads and measure their performance:

The App presents a consent form through a Consent Management Platform (Google's User Messaging Platform) in accordance with the GDPR and similar regulations, and on iOS 14 and later it requests tracking permission through App Tracking Transparency (ATT). You can choose whether to consent on those screens.

For how this information is handled, please also see the Google AdMob privacy policy:

Once the "ad-free pass" has been purchased, advertising itself stops, and so does the collection of this information.

2.4 Information about how the App is used (Firebase Analytics)

We use Google Firebase Analytics to improve the App and investigate problems. It may collect statistical usage data that does not identify you, such as which screens are viewed and which features are used.

2.5 Information relating to purchases

In-app purchases (the memory shard pack, the set of three warm lights, and the ad-free pass) are processed through the payment systems of the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not collect or store payment information such as credit card numbers. We confirm only whether a purchase completed, through the purchase verification mechanisms each platform provides.

3. How we use the information

We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:

4. Disclosure to third parties

Except where required by law, we do not provide the information we collect to third parties without your consent. For the purposes set out above, however, we may entrust the handling of information to the following providers:

5. Retention

6. Your rights

7. Use by minors

The App is not directed at any particular age group. If you are a minor, please use it with the consent of a parent or guardian.

9. Changes to this policy

We may change this policy as necessary. If we make a significant change, we will announce it in the App or on the App's official support page.
